I am most proud of the fact that I've made my website easily navigable and readable. I used many hyperlinks. However, I feel as if I had not improved very much. After all, what I'm most disappointed in was that I still did not overcome my bad habit of procrastination. To be honest, the closer I am to a deadline, the more I become inspired to write. The ideas seem to instantly come to head or rather the tips of my fingers. Therefore, I am well aware that I have a lot of things that I need to work on and improve, such as adhering to the deadlines, which would allow me to have something to present to my peers and therefore get peer reviews and a new perspective on my work. Furthermore, by having more than one person read my work, I am able to see my mistakes more clearly along with my bad habits being pointed out, such as my tendency to be redundant, which often makes my sentences much more convoluted, cluttered, and hard for the audience to read.
While doing this project, I had learned to be very resourceful as I used a variety of resources for both information and citations. I combed through anything that I could find, from other blogs to 60-page reports, searching for any interesting data on a relatively new topic of discussion. Furthermore, I decide to save time by generating citations using the MLA 7 format. However, I realized that there are many, many formats, anywhere from reports to online publications. Image citations was a completely new and different experience as I had never cited images before in my life, so I became stagnant trying to figure out how to approach the problem. For weeks, I did not do any major edits, on my project until the final week of the project, a hair's breadth away from the deadline. Once the deadline came closer, I found myself doing all nighters, finishing page after page after page of work. What used to be blank, empty pages, became replete with knowledge and information. A site was found to generate Creative Commons citations for Flickr photos only, through HTML coding. I also had to tweak the code to suit my purposes as well. I know that I should've been more responsible and stick to the deadlines, but the mind of a procrastinator is quite different. However, I also believed that I was thorough in my research, even if some parts of the website was rushed. But, this experience had made me learn more about myself as I learn more about other people as I now see that I tend not to put an equal amount of effort into various parts of my work, as I saw that I focused too much on the little things before I got to writing out much of the final content. |
Here are screenshots of my website as it was in development. I did not cite my sources nor did I cite my images yet.
